With IM Monitoring enabled, Net Nanny analyses each conversation and sends an email alert to parents or other guardian if any segment has been flagged for inappropriate content. It even handles the quirky miss-spellings often used in IM such as “r u there?”

Net Nanny can flag predatory behaviour or cyberbullying based on the type of content typed. For example: asking for personal information, trying to initiate direct contact, and assessing risks when someone asks "are your parents home?"

Net Nanny will also flag conversations and send alerts based on other categories like profanity, hurtful or mean language, and sexual language.
